Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Steady Reads --Mel

The following are authors I normally buy whether I have time to read or not. I read many genres and all of the following authors have earned a lasting place in my library.

1. Lori Foster http://www.lorifoster.com/ Did anyone else have to buy second copies of the Buckhorn Bothers because they were worn through from reading? Megs read them. My sister read them. And then my niece read them!
2. Sherrilyn Kenyon http://www.dailyinquisitor.com/sherrilyn/ What can I say about the AG? She is the author goddess!
3. James Patterson http://www.jamespatterson.com/ I can’t get enough of the Cross novels!
4. Dean Koontz http://www.deankoontz.com/ *Grin* I’ve been a Koontz fan girl for twenty years! I wonder if that’d make him feel old?
5. John Saul http://www.johnsaul.com/ if I was prone to nightmares, this man would’ve given them to me years ago!
6. Susan Elizabeth Phillips http://www.susanephillips.com/ *Chanting* SEP! SEP! SEP!
7. Catherine Anderson http://www.catherineanderson.com/ I adore all of Catherine’s character driven stories. I’ve been a fan girl since Annie’s Song.
8. Robin Schone http://www.robinschone.com/ Mercy…Robin is amazing!
9. Susan Brockmann http://suzannebrockmann.com/ *Thud* Her SEALs are what dreams are made of!
10. Lorraine Heath http://www.lorraineheath.com/ Always to Remember is my very favorite romance.
11. Lisa Gardner http://www.lisagardner.com/ Lisa has some serious skill!
12. Lynn Kurland http://www.lynnkurland.com/index.html My dear friend Dana got me hooked on Kurland some ten years or more ago.
13. Tess Gerritsen http://www.tessgerritsen.com/ The dh and I share Tess. That sounds wicked, doesn’t it?

A double Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Comfort Reads by Mel & Lany

Mel’s old comfort reads in no particular order

1. Morning Glory and Years by LaVyrle Spencer. I cried when LaVyrle retired.
2. Honor Splendor by Julie Garwood
3. A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught
4. Any of the Malory family by Johanna Lindsey
5. Mackenzie’s Mountain and Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard
6. The Black Lyon by Jude Deveraux
7. Savage Destiny series by Rosanne Bittner
8. Anything by Rebecca Paisley. Rebecca will always remain queen of comedy. I was sorry to hear when she got burned out.
9. Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Shanna was the very first romance I ever read. Actually my senior lit teacher and my mom took turns reading it to me. I’ve been hooked ever since.
10. The Kadin by Beatrice Small. My friends, I’ve been reading romance since my senior year of high school. And let me stress. Beatrice was writing erotic romance long before it was “cool.”
11. Moondust and Madness by Janelle Taylor
12. Anything by Constance O'Day-Flannery. Constance hooked me on paranormal through her time travels.
13. Keeper of Dreams by Penelope Williamson

Lany's Comfort Reads in no particular order

1. The Stand by Stephen King--A classic. I've read it so many times since I was a teenager. And it never gets old. The characterization is wonderful.
2. Fantasy Love by Sherrilyn Kenyon--Grace could be a good friend and Julian is yummy.
3. The Lady's Tutor by Robin Schone--I never want the book to reach the end no matter how many times I reread.
4. Mrs. Mike byBenedict Freedman and Nancy Freedman--the tale of a young woman who falls in love with Canadian Mounty. It makes me laugh and makes me cry.
5. This is all I ask by Lynn Kurland--Christopher and Gillian, two troubled souls find comfort in each other. *dreamy sigh*
6. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton--I don't know how many times I read this as a teenager.
7. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stephenson--the copy I have is battered and torn. It's the one my Dad read as a child.
8. Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning--has one of the hottest scenes ever written
9. Partners in Passion: No illusions by S. L. Carpenter and Sahara Kelly--Love the humor partnered with hot writing.
10. Tapestry by many--stories by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Karen Marie Moning, Lynn Kurland, and Madeline Hunter to suit any mood.
11. Strange Attractions by Emma Holly-Emma is a queen of steam.
12. Ariel by Stephen R. Boyett--a unicorn in a apocolyptic world. If only...*sigh* I won't ruin the ending. Still good though.
13. Their eyes were watching God by Zora Neale Hurston--should be a must read.

What’s up?

Exciting news for me! I received opening scenes for a brand new project for us! Wooohoo…Yeah, I’m thrilled! LOL…I love new projects. I’m always jazzed to dive right in.

Also, we got a peek at what our fabulous web mistress has worked up for Melany’s new cyber home. I really can’t praise Paula enough. She’s da bomb!

Let’s see. We’re waiting on the edge of our seats for word on Bold Bride. *Crosses fingers* our editor likes what we did. BB got a request for a length increase. We’re also on the look out for first round edits for Viking’s Pledge. Release date for Seasons of Seduction II is fast approaching. We’re not too worried. Like the rest of life- they’ll arrive when they arrive. ;)

While waiting we’re doing some creative touch-ups on Law’s Deliverance and Ingram’s Charm. Truth is, with what needs to be taken care of first there’s no real hurry. I don’t think I’m a winter person. I had a bit of blahs and didn’t work too hard the last month of winter. Now that spring is here, all I want to do is suck in the nice weather. :)

Until later~
Mel
